The Homeport Inn and Tavern stand as proudly today as they did over 150 years ago, each a reminder of Searsport's rich, seafaring heritage. Built around 1861 by local sea Captain John P. Nichols, he lived there with his family until the 1880s. Located along Penobscot Bay in Searsport, Maine, day trips from the inn to Bar Harbor, Acadia National Park, Belfast, and Camden are ideal.
The Homeport Inn and Tavern, listed on the National Historic Register, is a beautifully preserved reminder of the early times in Down East Maine. The mansion stands on a hill east of Penobscot Bay and offers nine comfortably appointed guest rooms.
Our Tavern is open year-round to locals and Inn patrons, and the rotating menu captures the best seasonal products the region has to offer.
Under new ownership, owner/ operators Arnaud and Allison Lessard and Kip Dixon bring decades of combined hotel and restaurant experience to the Inn and Tavern and look forward to welcoming guests to the tastefully updated property in the 2023 season.

At the Inn, we offer a touch of European-style hospitality in the traditional Bed & Breakfast manner with a breakfast buffet guests can enjoy on the "sun porch" overlooking the gardens and formal dining room. Lunch and dinner are offered at the downstairs Tavern, which pays homage to an English pub with spirits and seating for up to 60 patrons. Guests can nestle up to the fireplace for relaxation and libations, take a seat at our ornate bar, or choose to dine in our main dining room. The Tavern menu features classic Maine coastal fair and creative selections sourced from regional farms.
